Read the math number story. Have your child place small objects (beans, seeds, pebbles, or leaves) on the flower she drew to show what is happening in the story. Have your child retell the story and then tell how many beetles are on the flower at the end.

Two beetles are resting on a flower.

The beetles hear something crackling below them.
When they look down, they see three more beetles walking up the stem.
