- Look at the photo. Ask: Who is taller? How do you know? Who is standing on the most books? How many? Who is standing on the fewest? How many? Is the measurement fair? Why or why not?
- Explain that when comparing sizes, the two items or people you are comparing must be placed at the same baseline (starting point).
- Give your child a crayon and a marker that is taller. Challenge your child to show how to line up the two writing tools so they are at the same starting point. Ask: Which is longer?
