- Place the box you gathered on the sheet of paper. Have your child trace around the sides of it. Remove the box from the paper and ask: What shape is this? This rectangle is flat. It is called 2-D. The box is called 3-D because you can pick it up and put things in it.
- Invite your child to use markers or crayons to draw the same colors of lines on your box as the picture shows. Point out the longest side (red) is the length. The shortest side (blue) is the width. The height (green) shows how tall the box is.
